Sika Strengthens Industrial Flooring Business in Northern Europe

October 14, 2008, Sika AG acquires Pelplast Utvecklings AB based in Vadstena, Sweden. With this acquisition Sika expands its technology offering in specialty epoxy resins for compact floors and thereby further strengthens its market position in the industrial flooring segment.


The integration of Pelplast’s flooring technologies and products broadens Sika’s capability to service a wider variety of customers, particularly in the industrial flooring business in Northern Europe, and subsequently also on a global basis. In addition, an existing network of customers as well as application specialists has become available to Sika. Pelplast will be integrated into the operations of Sika Sweden.

Pelplast is renowned for its innovative capabilities with a wide range of specialty resin-based products for floors with high requirements regarding esthetics. The company achieves sales of about CHF 2.2 million annually. The sales price remains undisclosed by agreement of the transacting parties.
