November 02, 2012, PostFinance is to simplify its account service for private customers as of 1 March 2013. From then on, it will offer a private account and a private account plus to replace the current Sets. The account management fee will be five francs or twelve francs per month respectively. These prices include various services for retail customers – as well as the PostFinance Card. As before, the private account will be free of charge where customer assets exceed 7,500 francs (private account plus: 25,000 francs). Account management fees for business customers will also change.

PostFinance wants to offer its customers simple products that are easy to understand. With this in mind, it will simplify its account service for private customers as of 1 March 2013. The Sets will be replaced by the private account and private account plus.

Various services included
The account management fee for the private account will be a standard five francs per month – regardless of whether the account is managed electronically or on paper. This price includes various services for retail customers, such as unlimited payment and standing orders, pre-franked reply envelopes and the PostFinance Card. PostFinance will continue to offer its debit card free of charge. Similar products in the Sets previously cost three or four francs. As before, the private account will remain free of charge where customer assets exceed 7,500 francs. The private account plus is suitable for customers who are frequently on the move and who invest in funds. It offers free cash withdrawal worldwide and reduced issuing commission when subscribing to funds. The account management fee will be twelve francs per month, but is not charged if customer assets exceed 25,000 francs.

An attractive financial service provider
PostFinance wants to increase the number of customers who use PostFinance as their main bank even further. Customers with assets over a certain threshold have therefore been exempted from account management fees for several years. The threshold of 7,500 francs remains low, showing that PostFinance is also an attractive financial institution for «small» customers. Thanks to the services included in the account management fee and the free PostFinance Card, PostFinance remains a cost-effective financial service provider. This is the first major price adjustment for private customers for eight years. It takes into account the increased range of products and services available over the past few years.

New account management fee for business customers
The most recent price changes for business customers took place 13 years ago. Since then, the range of services associated with the postal account has grown steadily for these customers as well. With this in mind, account management fees will also be adjusted for business customers. Business customers will pay 60 francs per year (previously 36 francs) as of 1 January 2013. This price includes various services – such as two PostFinance Cards and pre-franked reply envelopes for correspondence with PostFinance. No account management fee will be charged for business customers if the average annual credit exceeds 7,500 francs.
