Swiss Commercial Register: Slight decline in company formations in November 2024

New registrations
In November 2024, 4,373 new companies were registered in Switzerland. This corresponds to a decrease of 2% compared to the previous month. There is also a slight downward trend year-on-year: 4,394 new companies were registered in November 2023, which corresponds to a decrease of around 0.5% in November 2024.

Deletions
The number of company deletions fell in November 2024 compared to the previous month. With 2,589 deletions, a decrease of 4% was recorded. A similar picture emerges when compared to November 2023: the number of deletions fell by 4%.

Mutations
In November 2024, a total of 16,990 mutations were registered, which represents a significant decrease of 11% compared to the previous month. At the same time, there was a moderate decrease in companies wishing to cease their business activities: the number of company liquidations requested fell by 1% in November compared to the previous month. A total of 2,004 companies applied for liquidation.

Principality of Liechtenstein
The Principality of Liechtenstein recorded a pleasing increase in new entries in the commercial register in November 2024. With 80 newly registered companies, this represents an increase of 23% compared to the previous month. The number of mutations also rose significantly: a total of 1,812 changes were reported, an increase of 37% compared to the previous month. In contrast, deletions decreased. In November 2024, 82 companies were removed from the commercial register, which indicates a certain stability in the company portfolio.
