Sargans gets new microchip plant

October 11, 2007, Gonzen in Sargans, east Switzerland, has won the race for the new ESPROS Photonics microchip plant and the hundreds of associated jobs. Construction of the new 120 million CHF Swiss semiconductor facility is to commence in November this year, a full six months ahead of schedule.


According to the chairman of epc’s board of management, Beat De Coi, the St. Gallen site was considered by a team of 40 engineers and plan-ners to have met all the necessary requirements to build and operate the plant most efficiently.
