Real turnover growth of 1.3%- Retail trade turnover growth in May 2010

July 05, 2010, According to provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), real, seasonally adjusted turnover in the retail sector rose by 1.3% in May 2010 compared with April 2010 (in nominal terms +0.3%). Real, not seasonally adjusted turnover in the retail sector rose by 3.8% in May 2010 compared with May 2009 (in nominal terms +2.8%).


Month-on-month change (excluding fuel)
Excluding fuel, the retail sector showed a seasonally adjusted increase in real turnover of 1.1% (in nominal terms +0.3%) compared with April 2010. Retail sales of food, drinks and tobacco registered an increase of 0.3% (in nominal terms -0.1%). The non-food sector showed positive growth of 0.5% (in nominal terms +0.2%).

Year-on-year change (excluding fuel)
Year-on-year in May 2010, the retail sector showed an increase in real turnover of 3.6% compared with May 2009 (in nominal terms +2.3%). Retail sales of food, drinks and tobacco registered an increase in real turnover of 2.6% (in nominal terms +1.9%). The non-food sector registered positive growth of 4.6% (in nominal terms +2.6%).
