Born in Bavaria Josef Schmid, 58, is one of Mazda’s and the Austrian automotive industry’s most experienced executives. He has held various positions for the company in Austria since 1973, beginning as PR and Marketing Manager, later as a pioneer in developing the CSEE markets, and since 2006 as Regional Director of the 15-country Mazda Central and South East Europe organisation with offices based in Klagenfurt. During this time, he was able to increase the popularity of the Mazda brand, and build an international, multi-cultural company.
“I’m really looking forward to my new position in the German Mazda organisation,” said Mr. Schmid. “My goal is to use the current product and technology offensive to increase Mazda’s market share, while giving the utmost importance to making sure our dealers, customers and employees are satisfied.”
Mazda Motors Deutschland Director of Sales, Thomas Rothe, 48, who has been acting Managing Director until now, will once again focus his efforts on Mazda sales activities in Germany.
