Georg Fischer secures major order for high precision machine tools in China

January 11, 2013, GF AgieCharmilles, a division of Georg Fischer, received a major order for 55 machines from a well-known Chinese manufacturer of components for electronic devices.


The new order includes both EDM (electric discharge machines) as well as milling machines for a total value exceeding CHF 10 million. Delivery will be staged over the next few months. The contract is a follow-up of the January 2012 order for over 100 machines. All types to be delivered are high precision machines dedicated to the production of miniature parts for the electronics industry.

GF Agie Charmilles has been active in China for more than 20 years and commands a leading position in the Chinese market. China is today the largest market for machine tools and for GF AgieCharmilles its largest single market. GF AgieCharmilles currently operates two manufacturing plants as well as eight sales and service branches and employs more than 700 people in China, a quarter of its total workforce.
