Air Berlin: More passengers in June

July 07, 2010, Air Berlin, Germany's second-largest airline company, welcomed 3,022,294 passengers on board, i.e. an increase of 3.4 percent (June 2009: 2,922,098 passengers, including those traveling on the acquired TUIfly routes).


Fleet capacity utilization decreased to 75.1 percent, i.e. by 3.7 percentage points (June 2009: 78.8 percent). Revenue per available seat kilometer (ASK) decreased by 9.3 percent, i.e. from 6.07 to 5.51 Eurocents.

For the period from January to June 2010, Air Berlin transported a total of 14,227,985 passengers (including those traveling on the acquired TUIfly routes), i.e. slightly less (-0.8 percent) than in the corresponding period of the previous year (2009: 14,337,952 passengers).

Fleet capacity utilization for the first six months of the year decreased by 2.2 percentage points to 72.6 percent (2009: 74.8 percent). Accumulated capacity for the January to June 2010 period increased by 2.2 percent.
